Sometimes it's really hard to get started at something you want to do, especially if you're concerned about getting it right the first time. I completely struggle with that level of perfection, and have gone through several different iterations of this blog alone. Can you believe I've had this domain for over two years now and have gone through two different false starts on two different development platforms? And I've only posted one blog (the welcome and intro post).

But I'm here to tell you that you aren't alone if you struggle with getting started. I've been there many times, and that's okay. You're doing great. I say this in part because I need to hear it too. I've never been good at giving affirmations to myself, so I might as well do it for both of us. So I'll say it again for those in the back: YOU'RE DOING GREAT!

Also, perfection is an illusion. People can put out something that "looks" perfect, but there will always be something someone somewhere will notice and consider a flaw in that "perfect" object. So even the masterpieces of the art world have their critiques and criticisms.

So, I am trying to take a step away from the concept of "perfection" and finally start publishing my perfectly imperfect blog. It's purpose is imprecise and probably missing a little bit of direction, but that's okay. It's a hodgepodge of my likes, interests, and ideas, but that's okay. It will probably wander from time to time, have some grammatical or typographical errors, and that's okay. I know that through perseverance, practice, and experimentation, I'll create something that has meaning to me and that's really all that matters. I will stay true to my heart and make something that, while not perfect, is beautiful in its own way.

So what have you been putting off for fear of perfection and criticism? What can you make today that while not perfect, makes you feel good about finishing? I hope you find your momentum and make progress today. I hope that this has at least inspired you a little bit. You're doing great and you'll continue to do great. So just get out there and try.
